We are looking forward to the coming Men’s Retreat. The speaker for this Retreat is Pastor Rich LaMar. Rich has lived in Coos Bay, Oregon for over 20 years, serving as the senior pastor of Anchor Point Fellowship (previously College Park). Prior to that, he served 11 years as pastor of Gales Creek Community Church. He has also served on the Credentials and Advisory Board in our district for the past 10 years, and as chairman for the last 3 years. He is currently bi-vocational, working as a substitute teacher for all grades in the Coos Bay – North Bend area.
He and his wife Tina are the parents of 5 adult children and 16 grandchildren from ages 3 to 23. Most of them live locally and are part of the church in Coos Bay. Tina is a mental health therapist for Coos County and maintains a private counseling practice on the side. Rich and Tina care of their aging parents who live on the family property. Beyond ministry, Rich loves to spend time working outside developing the home property. When the weather is nice he enjoys camping, boating, fishing, and crabbing. Rich and Tina together have a deep love for history, family heritage, and traveling. Over the last five years, they have spent time visiting and exploring Mexico, Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Liechtenstein, The Netherlands, England, Wales, and Scotland and plan to continue their travels.
Rich loves ministry and the impact it makes on all ages. He greatly enjoys watching people grow in their understanding of Jesus and how He can positively affect all areas of their lives here and for eternity.
Is it worth it? He would say, “Absolutely!”
During the retreat we will explore … what that means to you and I … responses we can give to non-believers … does your witness reveal your faith in God.
